World Market's New Wine Pricing

Much to my dismay, I left World Market on Oak Lawn Ave. in Dallas, TX empty handed due to the RIDICULOUS new pricing for their wines. I had purchased one of my favorite wines, Drops of Jupiter, one week ago at the store on Greenville Ave for $8.88, on sale. Today ALL of the wines prices had been raised with the regular AND sales price for Drops of Jupiter being $11.99. If you buy 4 bottles, it is $10.99; a case $7.99.

Mind you, I have been buying this wine regularly for over three years at World Market NEVER paying more than $9.99. As I mentioned, I checked five other wines that I buy occasionally were also priced higher. When I spoke to the manager, he said I was not the first one to complain about the prices. He gave me a mail in feedback to the CEO which is going in the mail today.

As for me, I will never shop for wine at World Market again unless the prices change, and since that's the primary thing I buy there, it means I'm not going back.

Celis Brewing is back-FINALLY!

No one has been more excited about the return of this brewery than me. This is my first glass of Celis White @ On_Rotation on 7/12/17 in my original Hoegaarden glass. While it is much better than any other Wit beer I've tried, the taste is on the light side from the original. My friend, Luc Van Mechelen (Bobo) who introduced me to this beer in the early 80s, agrees.

If I can offer a suggestion to Christine @celisbeers, it would be to try to achieve the taste of the original Hoegaarden which made it, far and away, the class of Wit beers. I look forward to drinking many more @celisbeers now that it's up and going.

Another New Fav and and Old One Revisited

In addition to @lakestreetdive, I'm adding @TankandDaBangas, the newest Small Desk Concert contest winner! You HAVE to see their Small Desk Concert! They are truly unique and wonderful!

I saw @RickieLeeJones live at the Majestic in Dallas last night and she still ROCKS! Along with her two member band, a percussionist/vibes player from Texas and a 28 year old guitar STUD from N'awlins (where she lives now), they blew the place away. While her voice is a little deeper, she is 62 years old after all, she still sounds like the early version. Having seen her at the Paramount in Austin touring behind her first album (Rickie Lee Jones) over 35 years ago (the only other time I have seen her live), I was amazed how good her voice sounds. I believe the time in New Orleans has given rise to a lot of syncopation in her new arrangements which I love. Can't wait to buy her new album, The Other Side of Desire, to hear more N'awlins influences!

Hail Anheuser Busch!

I am a beer consumer/aficionado, but have not consumed any Anheuser Busch products in decades. However, their Super Bowl commercial so accurately portrays the immigrant experience since the beginning of this country, that I salute them! Our country which is a nation of immigrants has SO mistreated them from day one, but, in spite of that, they continue to come and make lives for themselves and their families which has led to America being the greatest country on the planet!

We need to make the xenophobe in the White House, his white supremacist chief strategist, and his evangelical lackey aware of this and that we will NOT ALLOW them to pervert lawful immigration!
