Tish Hinojosa, the Stone River Boys et al

Once again I have been remiss in posting my live music experiences! Last night, I saw Tish Hinojosa and the Latino Cultural Center here in Dallas both for the first time. Tish performed an wonderful show accompanied by two excellent musicians, Marvin Dykuis on guitars and mandolin and Glenn Kawamoto on bass. She did a cover of "Always" done by Patsy Cline and written by Irving Berlin which was incredible! The facility was flawless and beautiful.

In mid and late May, I attended two house concerts here in Dallas with Bob Livingston, formerly with the Lost Gonzo Band among others, from Austin and Arty Hill, a country singer from Baltimore respectively. Here, most house concerts tend to be in backyards, weather permitting as these two were. They were two great evenings of good music and nice people.

On June 4th, I got to see a full show from the Stone River Boys at the All Good Cafe in Dallas which was superb! I had seen them at Threadgill's in Austin during this year's SXSW, but it was only a four song set. I thought I recognized the lead guitar player there. Turns out it is Dave Gonzalez of the Hacienda Brothers! He, along with Mike Barfield formerly of the Hollisters make the group pop. If you get a chance to see them, don't pass it by!
